There are often many questions that go unanswered regarding a rodeo, the ground conditions and other amenities that we often like to know to be better prepared for the haul and competition.

Arena Talk, created by Mary Jane Carpenter and Channing Boone, is an informative blog geared towards barrel racers of all ages, skill level and regions!

Channing grew up in south Mississippi and is currently working toward a bachelor’s degree in News Journalism and Strategic Communications from the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas. She has found a way to combine two of her greatest passions in life, rodeo/barrel racing and writing!

Channing competed in the Mississippi High School Rodeo Association, the National Barrel Horse Association, and the Southern Region National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.

“I remember calling friends and others before a rodeo or barrel race with questions about the arena if it was one I had never been to before. It was nice to know a little about the complex; if there were stalls and hook ups and the condition of the ground,” said Channing.

“Many of my friends haul two of their horses to a rodeo because they are never sure which horse to run. I am hoping this blog will give barrel racers a better idea of the arena they will be competing at and make getting there a little bit easier,” she said.

Arena Talk will be here to answer these questions and more! Here you will find everything there is to know regarding barrel races, arenas and the opinions of barrels racers from the Gulf Coast to Calgary!
