I called Mary Jane Carpenter about six months ago regarding transfer papers I needed for a horse she had owned before me; Morgan’s Squeak Toy, a handsome bay, who holds a very special place in my heart and now carries an exceptional young lady around barrels and through the poles. Before the phone call was over with Mary Jane we began talking about my junior year of college, the goals and dreams I had and possibly writing for her in the future. The future seemed so far away, boy was it closer than I thought.

Almost two weeks ago, Mary Jane asked me to start writing a blog for her, “Arena Talk.”. Accomplishment, joy, excitement and thankfulness filled every inch of me (I do not think it will ever leave). Then the much anticipated nerves and fear of not meeting perfection set in.

Then a quiet voice said, “You can do this,” – God, obviously. I then reflected this feeling into any task, goal, or dream in life.

If you believe you can do it, then you can; dreams and goals are not simply put into our heart and mind to fill space and collect dust, they should be acted upon. If you are asked to do something, it speaks volumes about you; because the person who asked believes in you and knows how capable you are to accomplish whatever it is they had in mind.

My hopes for this blog are that all ages and skill levels will use the information to accomplish their goals and dreams and be informed and prepared for each race.

Writing is a gift I have treasured for a very long time. A gift is not meant to sit in a box while the paper decomposes and bow fades; open it, share it, care for it and put it to use. If you have opened your gift, I hope you are enjoying it and using it to the best of your God-given ability. If you have not, muster up the courage to tear the paper and bow away. Just make sure to never abuse the gift.

God opens doors when you knock long enough, you just can never forget to meet him halfway.
